Precautions : Try to arrive at Gangtok as early as possible to avoid traffic at evening time.
How to Reach : If you are travelling through a flight, you can take a flight from Delhi to Bagdogra. Take a cab from the airport and arrive for Gangtok, it is nearly 123 km.
Nathu La Pass
Key Attractions : India China Border Gates, Tsomgo lake, Baba Harbhajan Singh Temple.
Best Time to Visit : May and October.
Precautions : Arrive early from Gangtok to cover all the points. Because of high altitude oxygen level is low.
How to Reach : Cab ride from Gangtok will take 1 hr 57 min to reach there.
Lachung, Lachen & Yumthang Valley
Key Attractions : Enroute visit Singhik View Point, Seven sister Waterfall, Naga Waterfall. Frozen Gurudongmar Lake of Lachen, Buddhist Gompa in Lachung, Lachung Monastery, Yumthang Valley, Yumthang River, Zero Point.
Best Time to Visit : For snowfall December-January is best and March-June is quite pleasant.
Precautions : Oxygen level is low, so keep yourself hydrated.
How to Reach : Lachen is about 107.2 km from Gangtok, arrive early and reach Lachung by evening and arrive for Yumthang Valley next day morning.
Key Attractions : Pemayangtse Monastery, Rabdentse Monastery, Helipad Ground, Mt. Kanchenjunga Range.
Best Time to Visit : February to June is preferable.
Precautions : Way to pelling from Gangtok is a little rough so it’s better to take/ride in SUV.
How to Reach : Bagdogra is the nearest airport to Pelling it is about 160 km. If you are travelling through train then New Jalpaiguri is the nearest railway track and pelling is 52 km away so you can simply take a cab.
Key Attractions : Buddhist Park, Ralong Monastery, Samdruptse Hill, Temi Tea Estate.
Best Time to Visit : Month of September, October & November are best to visit Ravangla.
Precautions : If you going for visit to Buddhist Park then arrive early it closes by 6pm.
How to Reach : Nearest airport to Ravangla is Bagdogra Airport and it takes nearly 4 hrs to reach there. If you are travelling through rail then New Jalpaiguri railway station is the nearest. Ravangla is 110 km away from the railway track.
Key Attractions : Batasia Loop, Ghoom Monastery, Tea Garden, Padma Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park, Japanese Temple, Tenzing Rock, Tibetan Refugee Centre.
Best Time to Visit : October to March is the best time to visit Darjeeling.
Precautions : Rainfall is possible in between july to september so carry umbrella and other necessary accessories with you.
How to Reach : Nearest airport from Darjeeling is Bagdogra and it is approximately 95 km from the city.
